The Power of Purpose
It’s true – most companies have some sort of philanthropic affiliation or platform that they boast and celebrate, but how many companies see it as more than a box to check off? I’m very happy to say that I work for a company that truly believes in the power of purpose, so much so that we collectively decided to include “meaningful contributions” as one of our new company values.
Earlier this year, we launched a CSR platform of our own to promote economic independence for girls and women through education and job skills. We volunteer with nonprofit organization Dress for Success and established a scholarship fund earlier this year to assist one promising young woman a year with college tuition. The cool part though, is that we’re not doing these things to say, “Hey, look at us! We’re giving back!” We all share the belief of being the change we wish to see in the world, and that goes far beyond charitable giving.
When it comes to client work, we want our contributions to matter. We spend a lot of time planning, discussing and outlining before we start developing anything. We also recognize that working in harmony with our clients to create authentic employee experiences starts with the employee experience we create for ourselves, which is why we’re always investing in our own culture. We experiment with new ideas in our Test Kitchen, take time to appreciate the little things with our Brilliant Ink Gratitude Journal, get together weekly to practice yoga together, enjoy work-from-home Fridays, and always approach ourselves, our clients, and our communities with a spirit of service, kindness, compassion and generosity.
For the first time in my life, I can say that I work for a company that reflects my personal values and encourages me to live in a more purposeful way – it’s a pretty awesome feeling.
