Serving Up Gratitude

POSTED ON
November 27, 2019

One of our favorite traditions is to take time as a team to reflect and share what we’re grateful for. Aside from our families, our friends, our pets, and so many other things, we love what we do – really!

We are beyond grateful for the opportunity to do work we believe in with a team we love and share insights with our brilliant community of employee experience pros.

What We Love About Our Work

Lindsay McCleary
, Head of Project Management

I love that no two days at Brilliant Ink are the same. Every day is different, and that has a lot to do with the uniqueness of our clients and the creative ways we help support their employee experiences! From producing videos that bring a team of scientists to tears to installing environmental branding that reminds employees why they come to work every day, this year has been filled with inspiring work that keeps me engaged and excited to see what’s next!

ANNA DOWNING
, HEAD OF PEOPLE & OPERATIONS

I love the fact that I get to do work that excites me with a team of women who defy the ordinary and inspire greatness. I love that we are champions of the employee experience and am humbled to be tasked with supporting the development of our team into the best versions of their professional and personal selves. I’m so incredibly thankful that I get to challenge our team to practice what we preach.

For example, at our awesome yearly retreat, I’ve witnessed our team members’ honest vulnerability lead to meaningful discussion, which has shifted company culture. I’m grateful for this yearly tradition, as well as of other wonderful things we do that foster a culture of self-reflection, compassionate accountability and professional growth.  Truly the best job ever!

Patty Rivas
, Vice President

The "About" section of my LinkedIn profile reads, "I am fortunate enough to love where I work and want everyone to feel the same." It’s not lip service.

I am so grateful to work for a company where my contributions are appreciated, my opinions are respected, and my work has real meaning. I’m challenged every day to look at things through the eyes of employees everywhere and understand how their workplace experience can be improved.

Are there communications challenges? Do people understand how their work connects to the bigger picture? Are they able to bring their whole selves to work? Loving my job doesn’t only bring me personal satisfaction, it drives me to work harder for people who don’t. #thankful

, Senior Strategist

I love that we encourage clients to think and dream big - and challenge the notion that just because something hasn’t been done before at their company, doesn’t mean it won’t resonate with their people.

Helping clients find a better way, whether it’s how they communicate or measure engagement, to name a few, is one of my favorite parts of what we do.

Ann Melinger
, CEO

I am tremendously thankful that our clients trust us to help them with some of their most pressing employee engagement issues. They open their doors and welcome us into their organizations to talk to their people. They share their experiences with us - the good, the bad and the ugly (because, let’s face it, what company doesn’t have some ugly issues??). They trust us to guide them toward a better way, and they do so without being defensive or controlling.

And if all that wasn’t enough, I have the honor of working with the most brilliant, insightful and caring team to tackle our clients’ challenges. Thank you, Team Brilliant Ink, for being all-around amazing!

What We Love About Brilliant Ink

Sara Forner Howland
, Vice President

People tell me all the time that I have a dream job and that they'd love to work for Brilliant Ink. And the honest truth is -- they don't know the half of it. We do incredibly valuable work that can change the trajectory of organizations from coast to coast. We work with remarkable clients in about a zillion different industries, each one with their own unique culture and opportunities. But the magic of Brilliant Ink is its people.

The smart badasses that challenge and support me daily. I can stretch and expand my talent in every direction. I can use my creativity, humor, perspective and voice to do work that matters with people I love. I get to be fully engaged -- and for that I'm thankful.

Kate Brinkerhoff Angus
, Head of Accounts

Reason #1,739 that I love Brilliant Ink: we focus on our strengths and seek out opportunities to use our strengths even more. It's a subtle, but important, shift away from constantly trying to improve in areas where it just doesn't come naturally.

Since taking a strengths-based approach, we've all learned how to better lean on our own strengths and have a good sense of each other's strengths too, which I think helps us collaborate and communicate really darn well. It also helps us support each other, especially when we get into sticky situations!

I'm so lucky and proud to be part of a team that's looking to tap into everyone's best self every single day. It helps us do brilliant work for our clients and be bad ass people all around!

Claire Stuart
, Designer & Project Coordinator

When I say I love my job, I don't just mean my day-to-day work, the mission of BI or my manager (AKA, my role model). For me, it's all that and so much more.

I love that every day, I get to work with a team that allows me to bring my whole self to work. I'm constantly challenged to find creative solutions and the BINK team encourages and pushes me to be my best self. Plus, how cool is it that my creative ideas are not only heard but are celebrated across the entire company?! This place is like a unicorn and I'm so grateful to be here.

Jennifer Gunst
, Senior Strategist

I’m thankful every day – really! – for the opportunity to work for Brilliant Ink. I’m very aware that it is incredibly unique to work on a team where everyone is genuine, supportive and dedicated to doing the best work possible for our clients and for each other.

The creative professionals I’m fortunate to call colleagues approach every challenge with a brilliant mix of strategy, expertise and poise, without forgetting to have fun along the way. I’m so thankful for everyone at Brilliant Ink.

JACKIE BERG
, HEAD OF RESEARCH & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Being a remote team, sometimes you forget just how magical it is to watch your colleagues in action doing what they do best. I’m so thankful for the growth we’ve experienced at Brilliant Ink this year — because with new clients, conferences and opportunities, I’ve had the pleasure of partnering closely with several Inkies on some amazing projects.

Experiencing my coworkers’ brilliance in-person — in places as close to home as Charlotte and as far away as Cork, Ireland (and many, many places in between!) — I’m thankful on a very regular basis to be part of such an incredible team.
